SENIOR STATE ARCHEOLOGIST – COLORADO DESERT DISTRICT / CULTURAL RESOURCE PROGRAM / ANZA BORREGO DESERT STATE PARK
The reporting location for this position is Headquarters Office in Borrego Springs, CA. This position will work under the direction of District Superintendent.
The Senior State Archeologist plans, organizes, and directs the work of the District’s professional and technical cultural resources staff; oversees programs of acquisition, conservation, registration, interpretation, and storage of museum objects at established museum facilities; coordinates and directs cultural resource planning and management efforts and activities; analyzes technical data and formulates, implements, administers, and makes appropriate recommendations and presentations regarding districtwide cultural resource policies, programs and plans; completes program objectives and product submittals on schedule and in budget; and develops and serves on task forces and other committees while maintaining professional, collaborative relations with various constituents, including government-to-government relations with tribes, academic and professional institutions and other heritage partners. This position is responsible for supervising the District Cultural Resource Program that supports statewide efforts to protect and preserve cultural resources in the California State Parks System. The district consists of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, Cuyamaca Rancho State Park and Palomar Mountain State Park.

Office environment, Daily and frequent use of personal computer and a variety of office software applications at a workstation. Sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time. The position also requires periodic field visits in varied terrain and weather, with potential exposure to high heat, snow, and dust.
