Job Description

PARALEGAL

About Tillmann Law

At Tillmann Law, we help injured people rebuild, recover, and return to the adventures that make life worth living. We are a fast-growing Oregon personal injury firm focused on serious injury cases and exceptional client service. We fight insurance companies, hold wrongdoers accountable, and guide clients through some of the hardest moments of their lives.

We are building a team of people who care deeply about clients, hold themselves to a high standard, and want to grow professionally while doing meaningful work. We believe culture matters. Accountability matters. Client experience matters. And we believe great people build great firms.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a high-level Prelitigation Paralegal who can take true ownership of a caseload, communicate confidently with clients and insurance companies, and operate with urgency, professionalism, and compassion. This is not an entry-level or administrative role — we want someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of building an elite plaintiff’s firm in Oregon.

You will manage personal injury cases from intake through settlement demand under attorney supervision, serving as the primary point of contact for your clients throughout the process. You will handle a caseload of 35–55 active files at any given time, working collaboratively within a team of two attorneys, five paralegals, and an intake coordinator.

What You’ll Do

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Managing a caseload of 35–55 prelitigation files from intake through demand with strong organization and accountability
  • Handling initial case investigation, including ordering police reports, medical records, medical billing, and medical imaging
  • Coordinating client medical treatment and helping clients connect with appropriate treating providers
  • Assisting clients with ancillary needs such as securing rental vehicles and resolving property damage claims
  • Drafting demand packages and settlement communications
  • Communicating and negotiating directly with insurance adjusters
  • Identifying liability, damages, and coverage issues
  • Building strong, trust-based relationships with clients through consistent communication and guidance
  • Helping clients navigate difficult and emotional situations with empathy and professionalism
  • Maintaining accurate case notes, deadlines, and documentation in Filevine
  • Working collaboratively with attorneys, intake staff, and the litigation department
  • Spotting potential problems early and proactively solving them before they escalate
  • Supporting the firm’s mission, culture, and standards of excellence.

Who We’re Looking For

The right candidate brings:

  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload without micromanagement
  • Calm composure under pressure with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Strong communication skills that build trust quickly with clients and insurance professionals alike
  • A detail-oriented, process-driven mindset with a habit of catching issues before they become problems
  • Comfort taking initiative, ownership, and responsibility for outcomes
  • High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and the ability to balance compassion with accountability
  • Genuine motivation to grow, perform, and be part of a winning team doing meaningful work

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • 5–10+ years of experience as a paralegal in personal injury law
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a prelitigation caseload independently
  • Experience communicating and negotiating with insurance adjusters
  • Familiarity with ordering and organizing medical records, billing, and imaging
  • Strong writing skills for drafting demands and case documentation
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and personal injury damages

Preferred:

  • Proficiency in Filevine or similar case management platforms
  • Experience coordinating medical treatment and working with medical providers
  • Paralegal certificate or degree (welcomed but not required for exceptional candidates)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $75,000- $85,000
  • Health insurance: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision (effective after 90 days)
  • Retirement: 401k
  • 2 weeks accrued PTO
  • 6 company observed paid holidays + 3 floating holidays
  • Employer-paid garage parking, or $100/month transit subsidy if preferred
  • Professional development support and career growth within an expanding firm

Tillmann Law is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
