Scope The Field Operator III operates wells and production equipment in accordance with established operating and safety procedures. This position supports the daily operational plan through equipment surveillance, troubleshooting, basic maintenance, compression operations, and coordination of preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Local candidates are requested. Oil and gas experience and a mechanical background are preferred. Compression and troubleshooting experience are required.
Key Responsibilities - Implement daily operating objectives while maintaining housekeeping, safety, health, environmental, and security standards.
- Participate actively in daily toolbox meetings and scheduled safety meetings.
- Continuously monitor wells, compression systems, and production equipment to identify abnormal conditions, equipment problems, and optimization opportunities.
- Troubleshoot operational and mechanical issues to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient production.
- Function as an Equipment Care Technician and perform basic maintenance activities.
- Report alarms, emergency systems, or emergency shutdown systems that are out of service.
- Provide detailed and accurate shift-handover information to ensure operational continuity.
- Coordinate, control, and monitor corrective, predictive, and preventive maintenance work.
- Document operational events, abnormal conditions, and deviations in the operating logbook.
- Collect product samples for laboratory analysis and perform field laboratory testing.
- Participate in emergency-response activities.
- Report incidents internally and escalate awareness in accordance with incident-reporting guidelines.
- Keep the Operations Shift Supervisor informed of operational activities and changing conditions.
- Communicate effectively across the work team to ensure issues and corrective actions are properly addressed.
- Provide accurate information regarding well-production problems, current production rates, and well conditions.
- Perform thorough well-problem diagnostics before requesting Well Work intervention.
- Ensure wellheads and surface equipment are maintained and in good working condition before Well Work assumes responsibility for intervention activities.
- Assist and support ongoing Well Work operations as needed.
Skills and Qualifications - Completed secondary education.
- Previous experience as a Field Technician or Field Operator.
- Compression operations experience required.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting experience required.
- Extensive pipeline operations knowledge or experience.
- Strong knowledge of safety and operations-management tools and processes.
- Strong knowledge of emergency-preparedness procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations, project philosophy, design specifications, and relevant commercial agreements.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, health, and environmental performance.
- Oil and gas operating experience preferred.
- Mechanical background preferred.
- Local to the Midland area preferred.
