The Barback is a key player behind the bar, providing support for beverage & food service to ensure a smooth guest experience. Between prepping garnishes & table settings, restocking & clearing, the barback is fundamental to the bar’s smooth operation while receiving foundational bar education. At Confidant, we prioritize training barbacks from a support role into bartenders. We are looking for someone who is hungry to learn about high-level, craft cocktails, who is interested in the history and culture of spirits, and who is seeking an entry point into the cocktail world. 

The Barback reports to the General Manager. Compensation begins at $11.35 per hour plus tips.

Position Requirements

• Strong interest in bartending and craft cocktails.
• Ability to multitask through high-volume service. 
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in a cocktail bar or upscale restaurant is preferred, but we are willing to train a candidate with promise.
• We are open for dinner service Tuesdays to Sunday, full time availability is a must.
• Ability to maintain a clean, organized space. 
• The ability to multitask and coordinate effectively with bartenders & floor staff.
• Apt attention to details on beverages & food service.
• Cultural awareness: knowledge of NYC events and neighborhood activities that may impact business.
• A polished presence.
• A desire to learn.
