ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST / MONTEREY DISTRICT OFFICE / CULTURAL RESOURCES DIVISION / MONTEREY, CA
The reporting location for this position is the Monterey District Office. Under the direction of the State Historian III, this position will be responsible for managing archaeological and ethnographic resources throughout district territory. The Associate Archaeologist oversees all aspects of archaeological resource identification, recordation, evaluation, and protection of sites, objects, and collections. The position is responsible for documenting sites through standardized forms and GPS/GIS data; creating and managing GIS data and maps; and managing archaeological collections. The Associate Archaeologist also performs environmental review for all archaeological resources, and serves as the District Tribal Liaison. Training and Development Assignments may be considered. This position is designated as not telework eligible.The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
