Job Description

The High School English Teacher plans and implements an instructional program for multilingual students and provides related educational services for students in grades 9 through 12. The High School English Teacher also works in collaboration with a national teacher preparation program to provide support to teacher interns in the program. Essential Functions

  • Serve as teacher of record for the classroom.
  • Follows suggested district curricula for summer programs.
  • Attends summer staff faculty meetings once a week.
  • Works in collaboration with teacher interns and provides feedback and support to interns.
  • Incorporate small-group and individual instruction to personal and tailor instruction to individual needs.
  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering in-person instruction.?
  • Monitor and analyze student assessment data to determine instructional needs.
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, administrative regulations, and professional standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Holds unexpired MSDE educator licensure or certification in Secondary English.
  • Employee of Baltimore City Public Schools for the 2025-2026 school year, with the intention to remain an employee for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Knowledge of federal laws protecting the educational services for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment of instructional specialty to which assigned.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in English.
  • Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
  • Ability to select instructional planning, management, and evaluation procedures that relate to student needs and the demands of the instructional environment.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program.
  • Excellent?oral and?written communications and human relations skills.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Proficient in the use of technical computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Possession of all appropriate licenses, certificates, and contracts for the 2026-2027 school year (non-renewals, expiring certifications, separations including retirees will not be considered for summer school employment).
  • Acceptable annual rating by school principal/administrator
